LEADER -- Irene Mabel Kriesel, age 85, resident of Leader, died Monday, March 22, 2004, at her home. She was born on Dec. .28, 1918, in Isanti County, Minn., to Bernard and Elsie (Abraham) Griep. She married Roy Emmet Kriesel on Sept. 26, 1938, in White Bear Lake, Minn. She was a member of Swan Valley Lutheran Church, the Dutch Club, Senior Citizens and Birthday Club, all in Leader. She had been employed by OLFISCO, Inc., as a fish packer for 29 years. Prior to moving to Leader in 1983, she had lived in Hudson, Wis., and Minneapolis.
Survivors include eight sons, Kenneth (Maria) Kriesel of Motley, Richard (Sharon) Kriesel of Cushing, Harold (Debbie) Kriesel of Mankato, LeRoy (Amy) Kriesel of Mounds View, Emmet Kriesel of Coon Rapids, Stephen (Emma) Kriesel of Blaine, John (Diane) Kriesel of St. Paul, and Blaine (Carol) Kriesel of Coon Rapids; four daughters, Rosemary Schuette of Brownton, Nancy (Mario) Tegola of Thunder Bay, Ontario; Vivian (Douglas) Steglich of Las Vegas, and Barbara Jean Cottrell of Verndale; 37 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne and Harlan "Jim;" and six sisters, Shirley, Delores, Berniece, Dorothy, Agnes and Rose.
Preceded in death by her husband Roy, daughter, Kathleen Kriesel, grandchildren, Gary Kriesel, Christopher Quady and Robert Alman, brothers, Eugene and Al, sisters Betty and Eva, son-in-law, Dennis Schuette, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clara and Leo Kriesel, her parents, and her stepmother, Katherine.
Services will be 9 a.m. on Friday, March 26, 2004, at Swan Valley Lutheran Church in Leader with Pastor Bob Twiton officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd.
Additional visitation will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hillside Funeral Home in Minneapolis with burial at 3 p.m. Friday at Hillside Cemetery.
