Honey of a festival
Christian Education of Park United Methodist Church recently sponsored a mission project to buy bee hives through Heifer Project International for needy families and remote villagers to use the honey for food and to sell for additional income. It was a way to raise money with different stations offering food, beverages, games, prizes and balloons.
The education department exceeded its goal of $500 so Pastor Rory Swenson dressed up in a bee suit.
Trinity Lenten Festival
The annual Lenten Festival will be 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd. This inter-generational event will feature food, crafts, bingo and many other activities. Coffee, lemonade and cookies will be served in the Fellowship Hall.
InterFaith Alliance will meet at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Front Street Cafe in the side meeting room. IFA is a non-partisan coalition for people of faith who seek to promote compassion, tolerance, justice and respect. Everyone is welcome.
St. Francis reunion
LITTLE FALLS -- Alumnae and former faculty and students of St. Francis High School in Little Falls are preparing for an all-school Millennium Reunion July 1-2 in Little Falls at the campus of the Franciscan Sisters. Invitations have been mailed and responses are being processed. The reunion theme is "Return-Remember-Renew." Activities will include tours, a memorial service for deceased alumnae and faculty, a banquet at the Falls Ballroom, Mass in the Chapel of St. Francis Convent and an outdoor picnic. Church history series
There will be a church history series beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday at Heartland Alliance Church of Baxter with Pastor Dwight Johnson.
'Three Days in Judea'
Composer Ronald C. Howe, Erskine, will present his original piano composition at 7 p.m. March 31 at New Hope Church of Nisswa.
"Three Days in Judea" is a composition that relates the trials, crucifixion, resurrection and the ascension of Jesus Christ. This presentation is accompanied by slides of famous artwork. Howe's daughter, Erin, who is an accomplished pianist, will perform a Dino medley.
Refreshments will be served following the performances.
B.A.Y. Rally 16
Brainerd Area Youth Ministries will hold B.A.Y. Rally 16 for teens at 6:45 p.m. April 5 at Tornstrom Auditorium at Washington Middle School. The theme is Challenge 2000: Sharing your faith at school. It will feature All Weather Human leading in worship and guest speaker Joy Bromenschenkel. Free admission. For more information, call 825-9149.
The Rev. Lee Allison, recently approved Assemblies of God missionary to Ukraine, will be the guest speaker at 6 p.m. Sunday at Brainerd Assembly of God.
Lenten video series
First Presbyterian Church, Brainerd, will show a video series from 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays, March 29, April 5 and 12. There will be a time for refreshments and discussion after the video. For more information, call 829-6069.
