Brainerd School Board still will consider revision of the school song and logo even though one Indian group has asked that Indian nicknames not be dropped. The board decided earlier that the song and logo needed change but Warrior name could remain.

Dr. Bernard Flavhan, chief of staff of the Minnesota Department of Dental Health, will be at next week's city council meeting as the Brainerd council tries to decide if it will continue to battle against fluoridation of the city water.

Six miles of cars escorted the C-I Rangers into town Sunday afternoon to honor the basketball team for placing third in the state tournament. First-year C-I coach Bill Selisker is a graduate of Brainerd High School.
60 years ago (1949)
All Brainerd schools will be closed Thursday and Friday because of the state basketball tournament, stated Superintendent Harold Nordgaard. He thanked the business community for raising money to send the band to Minneapolis.

In a letter to the Dispatch, Senator C. Rosenmeier of Little Falls notes his efforts to give his district a better fishing season. His proposed amendment would move the zone line eight miles north of Brainerd.
100 years ago (1909)
W.E. Corkery, who was rooming at the Hess house, where young Hertzog was at the time the latter came down with small pox, has also been taken with the disease. He is in the contagious ward of the N.P. Hospital.
