Mary J. Speed, 89, Brainerd, died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at her home. She was born on Nov. 23, 1914, in Manfred, N.D., to Michael and Grace (Janisch) Seil. She married Roy Speed on Oct. 24, 1936, in Minneapolis. She was a registered nurse and was employed at St. Joseph's Medical Center as a nursing supervisor for many years, retiring in 1979.
