Tryout dates for players interested in participating on Minnesota Select basketball teams have been announced.
Sophomore and junior boys teams (for sophomores and juniors in 2002-03 season) will be conducted 10:30 a.m. March 30 and April 6. Tryouts will be conducted at the South Minneapolis YWCA, located at Lake Street and 22nd Avenue. Pre-registration is necessary. There is a $25 fee to participate.
Select teams will participate in six or seven tournaments on a regional and national basis.

Hoop Dreams tryouts scheduled
Hoop Dreams Academy summer all-star tryouts have been set for March 30 at Concordia University in St. Paul.
Varsity girls and boys interested in playing on national teams that will compete from April through July are encouraged to attend.

Players sought for wood bat tourney
The National Amateur Baseball Tournament is looking for players between the ages of 13 and 20 who would like to be part of the National Invitational Wooden Bat Showcase Tournament at the Metrodome June 13-16 and June 20-23.

Century 21 named league champions
The Century 21-Pecarich Marketing basketball team won the YMCA men's league championship for the third consecutive year, defeating American National Bank 81-69.
In its 3-year championship run, Century 21 has compiled a 36-2 record.
Openings remain for Pierz tourney
Openings remain in the Pierz Washington/New York class trip 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament April 6-7 at Pierz Healy High School.
Age divisions on April 6 include ninth- and 10th-grade boys, seventh- and eighth-grade boys, fifth- and sixth-grade boys and third- and fourth-grade boys.
Age divisions April 7 are for 11th- and 12th-grade boys, 11th- and 12th-grade girls, ninth- and 10th-grade girls, seventh- and eighth-grade girls, fifth-and sixth-grade girls and third- and fourth-grade girls.
Cost is $30 per team. Teams are guaranteed five games.

Sports Boosters will not meet
The Brainerd Sports Boosters will not meet Thursday.
The next meeting will be noon April 4 at the Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen.
The soup kitchen is located at 923 Oak St. between the Triangle Store and Temple Baptist Church. Parking is available behind the church or on 10th Street.
