WASHINGTON (AP) -- Rep. Mark Kennedy will announce which congressional district he's running in on Monday.
A court-designed redistricting plan put Kennedy, a freshman Republican representing the 2nd District, in the 6th District. But he is considering a run in the 2nd District.
Republicans are urging him to challenge Rep. Bill Luther, a Democrat, in the 6th. If Kennedy runs in the 2nd, he might face a challenge within the GOP from John Kline, who plans to run.
Kennedy plans to announce his decision at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Paul. He originally planned to make the announcement Friday, but said he postponed the decision so he could think about it and consult with his family some more.
Two St. Cloud state legislators are considering a run in the 6th District, which will now include the city. They are Rep. Joe Opatz, a Democrat, and Sen. Dave Kleis, a Republican.
