There will be a recount of the Brainerd School District's $59.9 million bond referendum, which passed by 97 votes last week.
At 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Marv Begin, Patti Harrison and Karen Toman, of the bond opposition group called People for Postponement of District 181 Referendum, brought in a check for $3,000 along with 30 signatures.
The group needed at least 25 signatures to request a recount.
Crow Wing County Auditor Roy Luukkonen will be the official recount administrator. Brainerd School District Business Manager Steve Dickinson asked Luukkonen to act in his place as Luukkonen is a neutral third party not employed by the school district.
Luukkonen said this morning he is looking at scheduling the recount sometime next week.
He said the recount would take one full day to complete.
Dickinson said the Brainerd School Board will have to canvass the votes as soon as possible after the recount.
