Cass to buy sign that shows motorists' speeds

Posted: Wednesday, March 21, 2001

WALKER -- Cass County Sheriff Randy Fisher obtained county board approval Tuesday to buy a demonstrator trailer and speed advisory sign for $7,700.

The sign will be used to encourage motorists to keep within the speed limit by showing them a comparison between the posted limit and actual speed they are traveling, Fisher said.

Besides being used on roads where motorists often exceed speed limits, it also will be used in Cass County Highway Department construction zones this summer, he said.

A new unit would have cost the county $9,700, Fisher said.

The board accepted the retirement resignations of Sgt. Merlin Fletcher and part-time officer Max Engel.
