More than 30 presenters gave 600 high school students from Brainerd and Pillager information on what it takes to become professionals in dozens of careers Friday at Career Exploration Day on the Brainerd campus of Central Lakes College.
Brian Kohn talked about opportunities for women in engineering at one session. Tim Johnson of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities videotaped the talk for a project aimed at counselors and teachers in school districts across the state. The purpose is to increase awareness of opportunities for men and women in careers traditionally dominated by one sex or the other.
High school students participated in five half-hour sessions. Volunteer presenters provided facts and figures about what their work involves and what kind of education is needed to enter their professions.
