AITKIN -- Donald C. Curtis, 77, Aitkin, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Riverwood Health Care Center of Aitkin.
He was born July 9, 1922, in Glen to Clarence and Betsy (Storm) Curtis. He moved at an early age to Cloquet and then Duluth where he attended school. He returned to Aitkin and graduated from Aitkin High School in 1941. He worked on farms in the Glen area. He married Myrl Williams on Oct. 24, 1944, in Duluth. They lived in Glen where they farmed. He worked as a field superintendent for Layne Minnesota Co., drilling wells and later building Caisson Foundations. He retired in 1984 and farmed until his death. He was a member of the Cattleman's Association, Dam Lake Sportsmans Club, P.E.R.M., the Grange and the NRA.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Donna Rae Asp, McGrath, Darlene Turnock, Lawler, Denette Collins, Waconia, and Dee Curtis, Aitkin; two sons, Dale Curtis, Brooklyn Park, and Dennis Curtis, Glen; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two sisters, Dorothy, Columbia Heights, and Maxine, Glen.
A brother, Clifford, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Westside Calvary Church of Aitkin with the Rev. Dallas Smith officiating. Burial will be in Malmo Cemetery.
Friends may call at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home of Aitkin from 4-7 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and at the church an hour before services Wednesday.
