Attorney for Olson withdraws from bomb plot case

LOS ANGELES -- The defense attorney of bomb plot suspect Sara Jane Olson has withdrawn from the case, just a month after joining her legal team.

Henry J. Hall, of the alternate public defender's office, cited an unspecified conflict as his reason for leaving. Hall's departure was approved last week by Superior Court Judge James Ideman, the same judge who appointed him.

Olson, a 53-year-old Minnesota doctor's wife, is accused of plotting to kill Los Angeles police officers by planting nail-packed pipe bombs under two squad cars in August 1975.

Olson, who was indicted in 1976 under her former name, Kathleen Soliah, was arrested in June near her home in St. Paul.

She is free on $1 million bail and faces a trial in August.
