Pine River-Backus girls' basketball player Sarah Laposky has been named the most valuable player of the Park Region Conference.
Members of the All-PRC team included PR-B's Brooke Rollins, Meg Tabaka and Brittany Nelson. Pequot Lakes was represented by Julie Redebaugh, Megan Arns and Joan Ebnet.
Other team members are Verndale's Raya Kern, Pillager's Nacole Carlson, Menahga's Darcie Maninga and Nicole Roiko; Bertha-Hewitt's Kim Bragel and Jessica Hooper; New York Mills' Aron Aker, Sebeka's Heather Sharp and Henning's Casey Ruising.
Marohn MVP of Warrior wrestling team
State champion Jesse Marohn has been named the most valuable member of the Brainerd Warriors wrestling team.
The hardest worker award went to Dusty Pickar. Most improved was Brandon Moser. Marohn had the most wins and Vince Sellnow had the most pins and the most team points. Voted 2001-2002 captains were Sellnow, Dusty Pickar and Andy Pickar.
Mueller 11th in biathlon event
Jaime Mueller of Brainerd placed 11th in the women's sprint race at the North American Biathlon Championships Saturday at Canmore, Alberta, Canada.
The U.S. Biathlon Nationals will begin Thursday. with the national championship individual 20km/15km events. The national championship pursuit 12.5km/10km events are scheduled Saturday.
Rain postpones NHRA Gatornationals
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Persistent rain showers forced NHRA officials to postpone Sunday's eliminations for the 32nd annual Mac Tools NHRA Gatornationals until April 20-21.
Eliminations for pro, sportsman and pro modified exhibition entries qualified for the $2 million NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series event have been rescheduled for 11 a.m. April 21.
Qualified teams will be granted a test and tune session April 20, with pro sessions at noon and 3 p.m.
The next NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series event is the 14th annual O'Reilly Nationals March 22-25 at Houston Raceway Park, Baytown, Texas.
