Hoge, Riewer, Kornbaum to play in all-star series

Mark Hoge of Crosby-Ironton, Jordan Riewer of Staples-Motley and Dan Kornbaum of Little Falls are among 40 senior boys' basketball players who will compete in the Minnesota High School All-Star Basketball Series.

Doubleheaders will be played April 9 at Halenbeck Hall on the campus of St. Cloud State University and April 10 at the Leonard Center on the campus of Macalester College in St. Paul.

The April 9 event will include a contest between the Blue and Gold teams at 7 p.m. The Maroon and Green teams will play an 8:45 p.m. contest.

The schedule April 10 will include games at 2:15 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Three-point shooting and dunk contests will precede each game on both dates.

Tickets at the door are $8 for adults, $5 for students. Children 5-under are free.

Collins named to IIAC All-Academic team

DECORAH, Iowa - Brainerd's Josiah Collins, a senior on the Luther College men's swimming and diving team, has been named to the 2010 Iowa Conference winter all-academic team.

This is the second time the 2006 Brainerd High School graduate has been so honored.

To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be in their sophomore, junior or senior year of eligibility, maintain a grade-point average of 3.50 or greater, have attended the school for at least a year, and be a member of a varsity team.
