Workers who were laid off from Team Industries eligible for training
Hundreds of northeast Minnesota workers who saw their jobs outsourced to China will be able to receive retraining assistance, Rep. Jim Oberstar, D-Minn., announced Wednesday.
Team Industries laid off 215 workers, including five in Baxter, when the company outsourced the manufacture of drive train components for snowmobiles and ATVs in January of 2008. The U.S. Department of Labor has ruled those workers are eligible for retraining benefits under the Trade Adjustment Assistance Act.
Park Rapids was hit the hardest with a layoff of 140 workers, 30 jobs were lost in Bagley, 20 in Cambridge, 10 in Detroit Lakes and 10 in Audobon.
More information about TAA benefits is available at Minnesota WorkForce Centers or by calling (888) 234-1330.
