MERRIFIELD - Fern Sibbert, age 87, of Merrifield, died Monday, March 17, 2008, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. Funeral services will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with the Rev. Terry Stumbo officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5-7 p.m. at the Brenny Funeral Chapel.
Fern was born on March 3, 1921, in Hawarden, Iowa, daughter of Walter and Laura (Terril) Pocklington. In 1946 she was united in marriage to Max Sibbert in North Dakota. They moved to the Brainerd lakes area, where she's been a resident until the time of her death. Fern was a member of the Eagles Club, VFW, American Legion and the Foster Grandparent program. She enjoyed bingo, fishing, dancing, gardening, cooking, baking and canning, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Terry (Brenda), of Crosby, Max (Katherine), of Staples, Stanley (Lee), of Nisswa, Ronald, of Nisswa, Rodney (Marlene), of Pillager, and Roger, of Merrifield; one sister, Violet Lewandowski, of Minneapolis; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Max; parents; three brothers; six sisters; and one daughter-in-law Sandy, preceded her in death.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
