ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- David Lamb broke an eighth-inning tie with a two-run double to lead the Minnesota Twins past the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 7-4 Sunday.
Left-hander Doug Creek (0-2) gave up the two-out hit to Lamb, a non-roster player who negated a pair of two-run homers by former Devil Rays teammate Steve Cox.
Tampa Bay starting pitcher Delvin James allowed a solo home run to Torii Hunter in the first inning. He fell behind 3-0 in the fourth, allowing two runs on three hits, a walk and two wild pitches.
Cox cut the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning with a homer off Brad Thomas, who was making his first start after three relief appearances.
Minnesota answered with a run in the fifth, but Cox tied it at 4 with his fifth homer of the spring, coming off Matt Kinney (1-0).
