SAUK RAPIDS -- Eugene G. Stack, 84, Sauk Rapids, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at St. Cloud Hospital.
He was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Virginia to Fred and Martha (Senczek) Stack. He married Doris Wesenberg on Sept. 6, 1939, in Sauk Rapids. He served in the Army 71st Infantry Division during World War II. He worked for Unger Motor Co., in St. Cloud as service manager for many years and later owned and operated Crosby Beverage Co. He worked for Prestige Motors in Minneapolis as parts manager. He retired in 1982. He was a member of the Sauk Rapids American Legion Post No. 254 and Sauk Rapids VFW Post No. 6992.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Horrocks, Lompoc, Calif., and Joyce Vranish, Ironton; a son, Ronald Stack, Sauk Rapids; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Leon "Ole" Stack, Sartell; a sister, Joan Christiansen, Sun City West, Ariz.; and a special friend, Hazel Ann Stack, Minneapolis.
His wife, a sister, Lois Orren, and an infant sister, died earlier.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home Chapel in Sauk Rapids with the Rev. Don Wilke officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Sauk Rapids with full military honors provided by the Sauk Rapids American Legion Post No. 254.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today at the Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids with the Sauk Rapids VFW praying at 6 p.m., the Sauk Rapids American Legion praying at 6:30 p.m. and church prayers at 8:15 p.m., and an hour before services Tuesday at the nursing home chapel in Sauk Rapids.
