Clara B. Kallies

STAPLES -- Clara B. Kallies, 94, Staples, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at the Greater Staples Care Center.

She was born Sept. 26, 1905, to Bendik and Marie (Ellingson) Bendson in Poplar Township in Cass County. She grew up on the family farm and attended a nearby country school. On Nov. 29, 1939, she married Julius Kallies. Together they moved to Minneapolis where they lived and worked until June of 1959 when they moved back to Poplar. Her husband died in 1992. She had been a resident at the Greater Staples Care Center for many years.

Survivors include her brother, Art Bendson, Staples; two sisters, Lillian Johnson, Staples, and Ruth Chapman, Staples.

Her husband; two brothers, Oscar and Edward Bendson; and three sisters, Florence Johnson, Millie Hile and Ann Shequen, died earlier.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Swan Valley Lutheran Church in Leader with Rev. Bill Schardin officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Cemetery in Poplar Township in Cass County.
