The 17-year-old male arrested for Saturday's armed robbery of the Freedom Station in Brainerd is expected to be charged Thursday in Crow Wing County District Court.

About 1:28 a.m. Saturday a man walked into the convenience store at 801 W. Washington St., displayed a handgun and demanded cash. He then fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect was arrested without incident about 7 p.m. Tuesday at his rural Pine River home, Brainerd Police Chief John Bolduc said. He declined to say if any cash or a handgun were recovered during the arrest.

A surveillance camera photo taken of the suspect while he was in Freedom Station that was released by the police department assisted in identifying the suspect, Bolduc said.

The robbery remains under investigation, Bolduc said.

The suspect is being held in the Central Minnesota Juvenile Center. Crow Wing County Attorney Don Ryan said a juvenile petition against the suspect is expected to be filed in court 1 p.m. Thursday.
