Gwen Y. Staffon

SPARKS, Nev. -- Gwen Y. Staffon passed on March 13, 2004, at her residence. She was born on June 15, 1924, in Leeds, N.D. She graduated from Leeds school system and the University of North Dakota, Fargo, in home economics in 1942. Gwen taught in Leeds school system. She married her husband Ralph in 1948 in the Leeds Lutheran Church. She taught home economics in New Salem, Sawyer as well as Minot, N.D. She retired from the Minot school system and spent the next 12 years in Fort Worth, Texas. They moved to Sparks in 1997 and joined the Lord of Mercy Lutheran Church. She is survived by husband, Ralph; daughter, Carla, Brainerd; and four grandchildren. A son preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Lord of Mercy Lutheran Church, 3400 Pyramid Hwy., Sparks, Nev.
