A special program which offers the choice of a $1,500 cash bonus or $2,000 in education assistance to any high school senior or graduate who enlists in the Minnesota National Guard has been announced by the Brainerd Guard unit.

Fulton Klinkerfues, president of the Minnesota Education Association, castigated Minnesota school boards and urged the state's teachers to unify and stand firm in their demand for higher salaries. He spoke at a rally at the Brainerd Armory.

Construction work on the block to house the new Montgomery Ward Brainerd store will get under way next week on the southwest corner of Laurel and Broadway. The store is expected to be ready for occupancy by July.

Word was received yesterday from Little Falls that a gentleman of that city went to the First National Bank demanding a loan from the president, J. K. Martin. When the loan was not immediately offered he pulled a gun. Bank officials overpowered the man.
