Andrew Mehr and Brianna Elg, both of Brainerd and the Illinois Institute of Technology, recently competed in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics national swimming and diving meet at San Antonio.
In the men's meet, Mehr placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.45, eighth in the 50 free at 21.20 and 11th in the 200 free at 1:45.83.
He was a member of the second-place 200 free relay and 800 free relay teams, was on the third-place 400 free relay and fifth-place 200 medley and 400 medley relay teams.
In the women's meet, Elg placed 23rd in the 200 freestyle at 2:05.60 and 31st in the 50 freestyle at 26.42.
Illinois Tech's men's and women's teams placed sixth.
Stadem third in biathlon
Hans Stadem of Baxter, skiing for Minnesota Biathlon and the Nisswa Northwest Biathlon Club, took third place Thursday in the youth men's individual 12.5-kilometer race at Fort Kent, Maine.
Stadem missed five of his 20 shots and finished in 49:02, including penalty time for the misses.
BLAST basketball shootout April 28
Brainerd Lakes Athletics Support Team will host a 3-on-3 basketball shootout at 9 a.m. April 28 at Forestview Middle School in Baxter.
Cost is $50 per four-person team. Boys and girls, grades 5-12, are invited to compete. Deadline to register is April 21.
BLAST is a non-profit organization started by parents of Brainerd youth athletics to provide supplemental financial support for Independent School District 181 and lakes area youth athletics.
