The Brainerd Kixters Danceline took third place from among 22 danceline teams competing in a State tournament at St. Olaf College. Brainerd scored 62.429 points.

Merle Storm, 320 North Sixth Street, was named Second Ward Alderman. Storm who is produce manager at Super Valu in the mall, was chosen by the Council on a 5 to 1 vote.
40 years ago (1960)
Crow Wing County's Board of Commissioners soon will be faced with the problem of what to do with the old Post Office building and site on South 6th Street. The Post Office site would provide enough space for the parking of 64 cars. Parking stalls would be metered to provide revenue from the parking lot.
60 years ago (1940)
Well, they've done it again. For the eighth time in 16 years, Crosby-Ironton reigns as the 24th District Tournament Champions. The Rangers edged Staples 28 to 23 to represent the District in the Regional meet at Moorhead.
80 years ago (1920)
Bill Garvey is in trouble these days. He lost his spectacles, gold ones at that and has searched Koop's grocery, his restaurant and other places for the missing glasses, but no success.
100 years ago (1900)
The new mayor of Duluth has ordered all nickel-in-the-slot machines to be removed and orders that all saloons close at 11 o'clock. Old timers in Duluth think the change in matters is rather radical.
