The state dance team finals, which includes performances by the Brainerd High School Dance Team, will be televised at 4 p.m. Tuesday on Channel 8 on Charter Communications, formerly known as Bresnan Communications.
The Brainerd High School Dance Team awards banquet was held March 12.
The following varsity awards were given: most punctual, Lacey Roberts; best facial expression, Michelle McMullen; best pointed toes, Shawna O'Brian and Christina Wiese; biggest motivator, Kara Kasper; most helpful, Jamie Bjerkness; best prepared, Kate Holden; best smile, Kristen Terrio; most energetic, Shawna O'Brian; tightest dancer, Michelle McMullen; most optimistic, Julie Pelzer; quickest learner, Lyndsay Anderson; best kicks, Jamie Thiffault and Christina Weise; and senior academic excellence awards, Jamie Thiffault and Kara Kasper.
All-conference dance team members were Sarah Brumberg, Lacey Roberts, Jamie Thiffault, Amanda Arnold, Kara Kasper and Jamie Bjerkness. Most improved rookie was Jessica Siebels; rookie of the year, Conny Vincent; most improved veteran, Alison Grow; and outgoing captains were Lacey Roberts and Jamie Thiffault.
Newly elected captains are jazz funk captain Kristen Terrio and high kick precision co-captains Kate Holden and Lyndsay Kephardt.
Junior varsity awards were granted to the following: most dedicated, Anna Struss; tightest dancers, Jessie Klein and Jordan Berg; best kicks, Emily Stricker; most helpful, Anna Struss; most energetic, Shannon Thiffault; most enthusiastic, Kelsy Peterson; best toe touch jumps, Nicole Hodgeman; best leaps, Christina Sanow; most flexible, Anna Engen; best toes, Jessie Klein and Dana Kohan; most improved JV dancer, Heather Larson; and most valuable JV dancer, Jessie Klein.
