NCS car show March 28-29 at Westgate Mall

The 19th annual North Central Speedway Car show is scheduled March 28-29 at the Westgate Mall.

Stock cars from all classes that race regularly at the track will be on display: NCS Pure Stock, Wissota Street Stock, Wissota Super Stock, Wissota Midwest Modified and Wissota Modified.

Participants should call either Jean Mass, 820-8787, or Peggy Jensen, 330-9097.

The season opens at the track five miles south of Brainerd on Business Highway 371 with practices April 19-20 (gates open at noon). The season opener is April 26.

Frazer, Olson score for Section 8-2A all-stars

Brainerd's Joe Frazer scored two goals and teammate Drew Olson added one as the Section 8-2A all-stars defeated the Section 8-1A all-starts 4-3 in a boys' hockey game Tuesday at Warroad.

Julius Tamasy and Bronson Shepherd of Brainerd also played for the 8-2A team.

Hanowski, Shepherd to play in Great 8 series

Beau Hanowski of Little Falls will play for the Section 6 team and Bronson Shepherd is an alternate on the Section 8 team for the 26th annual Ted Brill Great 8 All-Star Hockey Festival.

The eight-team tournament is scheduled April 4-6 at Wakota Arena in South St. Paul.

Following the event, 20 players, who do not have firm Division I scholarship commitments will be invited to represent Minnesota at the 24-team Chicago Showcase Tournament April 17-21.

Three former Warriors to play at Metrodome

Three former Brainerd Warrior baseball players will play March 27 at the Metrodome.

Rhett Williamson will play for the University of Wisconsin-Superior, Nick Jelacie for Bemidji State and Brett Kramer for St. John's.

UWS will play St. John's in a doubleheader at 9 a.m. and BSU will play St. Cloud State in a doubleheader at 5 p.m.

Williamson had two hits in the second game of UWS' season-opening doubleheader against Morningside (Iowa).

Special Olympians compete in basketball

Brainerd schools competed in the Area 5 Special Olympics basketball competition Wednesday at Brainerd High School.
