A very special thank you to everyone who donated gift cards and items for the silent auction and the anonymous cash donations for my benefit on Oct. 21, 2007. Also a special thank you to all the wonderful people that worked so hard to make it all happen. I am very grateful.

Whittier Elementary School began our last annual "March Madness" reading adventure. We're following "Go Joe Reader" reading around the world to bring it a little closer to Brainerd's Northside to "Read Around the Block". Our goal is to clock in over 70,000 minutes of reading for the month of March. We kicked off with an assembly in our gym, and invited some of our neighborhood's finest. We would like to thank the following community members for coming to our school on 2/29 and sharing their books with us.
Kelly Bevans of Brainerd Mobil; Elizabeth Harris the Crime Prevention Specialist; Corky McQuiston Chief Deputy with Brainerd Police; Sarah Dunlap, Volunteer Coordinator with St. Joe's; Rory Swenson of Park Church; Wayne Mooney, director of Brainerd's Parks and Rec; You all make our neighborhood a better place to live in!
Thanks for taking the time out of your busy morning to do one of the most important jobs ever ... reading aloud to kids!
