EXTRA CREDIT
The deadline to apply for the Evelyn Lenander Education Scholarship Program is May 15. The scholarship program supports students pursuing an elementary education degree. Several scholarships of up to $2,500 will be awarded. College students are encouraged to apply if they have completed two years of college and have been accepted into the elementary education field.

Eric Joseph Bridge, 29, Mankato, was sentenced for felony theft by false representation to 17 days jail, placed on five years supervised probation and fined $500.

Fire
The Brainerd Fire Department at 7:50 p.m. Monday responded to an old railroad box car that was on fire in the woods on the 8000 block of Highway 371, about a mile south of the Business Highway 371 bypass.

Two racers were injured when their snowmobiles collided during the WSA HIllcross Series snowmobile racing event Sunday at Ski Gull.

Thirty years ago my wife had a miscarriage. The doctor informed us that smoking more than likely caused the babies death. This baby was one of the 141,000 miscarriages due to parental smoking each year. These deaths go unnoticed yet the 35,000 people who are shot each year make the front page and TV news each night.
