COLLEGEVILLE -- Josh Smith picked up a double-double, with 22 points and 10 rebounds, to lead the top-seeded Staples-Motley Cardinals to a 54-33 win over No. 4 Long Prairie-Grey Eagle in the semifinals of the District 19, Section 6, Class 2A boys' basketball tournament Saturday.

Josh Anderson added 11 points for the Cardinals, who outscored LP-GE 32-14 in the second half.

DULUTH -- Tyler Scull led the top-seeded Crosby-Ironton Rangers with 21 points in a 69-62 victory over the fifth-seeded Greenway Raiders in a Subsection 7, Class 2A quarterfinal game Saturday.

Tony Zontelli added 17 points and Parker Robinson scored 10 for the Rangers.

PARK RAPIDS -- Ben Stoll scored 24 points and Joe Stoll 12 as the Pillager Huskies lost to Hill City in the semifinals of the East Subsection 6, Class 1A tournament Saturday.

It was fourth year in a row that Pillager finished with 20 victories.

"We fell a little bit short," Huskies coach Jerry Fornshell said. "It just wasn't in the cards.

Three players scored 13 points apiece for Hill City, which made 17 free throws in the fourth quarter.

PARK RAPIDS -- Brad Lusti scored 27 points, including five three-pointers, to lead Menahga past the Verndale Pirates in the semifinals of the East Subsection 6, Class 1A boys' basketball tournament Saturday.

Lusti nailed three consecutive threes in the last 90 seconds of the first half to transform a 21-19 Verndale lead into a 28-21 Menahga advantage.

Isaac Johnson scored 17 points and Cory Umland 12 for the Pirates.
