Eight area players have been named to the coaches All-Section 4A boys' hockey team.
Crosby-Ironton/Aitkin representatives are Dustin Heins and Philip Martin.
Little Falls players are Bo Corrow, Peter Herman and Eric Rakow.
Pequot Lakes' Luke Johnson and Wadena-Deer Creek's Kyle Davis and Mike Sartori also made the team.
Coach of the year was Tony Couture of Little Falls.
Honorable mention went to Little Falls' Jason Cash, Paul Herman, Aaron Jorgensen, Brandon Staab; Dan Swenson and Todd Szymanski of Pequot Lakes; and W-DC's Andrew Goldberg and Tyler Neu.
Brainerd Eagles win championship
The Brainerd Eagles eighth-grade boys claimed the championship in the Nothin' But Nets Division 2 Basketball Tournament at Zimmerman March 2.
The Eagles went 3-0 with victories over: Sartell 40-29; Centennial 70-54; and Orono 52-43.
Leading scorers for Brainerd were Joe Stoll with 71 points and Travis Dixon with 47.
Platisha, Sartori to play in All-Star hockey Festival
Brainerd Warrior's J.P. Platisha and Wadena-Deer Creek's Mike Sartori will compete in the "Great Eight" All-Star Hockey Festival March 22-24 at Wakota Arena in South St. Paul.
The teams are comprised of Minnesota's finest graduating seniors representing all the high school playoff sections.
Sartori, a goalie, is an alternative for the Section 4 team while Platisha, a forward will play for the Section 7 team.
Impola a finalist
Carol Impola of Brainerd was chosen as one of 10 finalists for the State's Top Hockey Mom contest.
Impola will receive a day at the spa and dinner for two. One finalist will be randomly chosen for a week-long vacation to Hawaii.
Impola, who was nominated by daugher Hannah, has eight children playing hockey.
