A letter in Monday's Open Forum has created a lot of interest and conversation on the part of Brainerd residents. Basically what the writer is suggesting is the takeover of the Lincoln School building for city offices, a library and a senior citizen center.

The Brainerd Mall is celebrating its fourth anniversary. The cake, weighing more than 200 pounds was made for the occasion. Charles Korchari cut the cake to be served to customers in the mall.
40 years ago (1962)
Bob Parrish, who captured the All-Events (handicap) with a 1,949 total, is the lone trophy winner to emerge from the strong turnout of bowlers at the Brainerd Elks Bowling Tournament at Duluth. Bob Parrish earned $40, plus an arm patch.
