Vincent to become missionary
Kerby Mills Vincent, son of Terry Vincent-Scribner, Brainerd, and Gary Vincent, Fallbrook, Calif., recently accepted an assignment to serve as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will serve as a missionary for two years in the Los Angeles area. He will enter the Mission Training Center in Provo, Utah, on Wednesday. He is a member of the Brainerd Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Minnesota Church Ministries Association workshops set
The Minnesota Church Ministries Association will sponsor 18 workshops for representatives of area churches from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 23 at Lakewood Evangelical Free Church in Baxter, which is on the frontage road of Highway 210, one mile west of the 371 junction.
These workshops aim to train, enrich, encourage and inspire those working in local churches. MCMA has been assisting in the disciple-making ministry of local churches since 1953 with the goal of developing stronger churches for a stronger future.
In addition to the workshops there will be many resource displays, inter-church fellowship and refreshments. The program will include three one-hour workshops in each of these areas of ministry: Children -- Classroom Discipline, Learning Styles, Bible Learning at Home; Youth -- Small Church Youth Group, Boy/Girl Relationships, Making the Tough Decisions; Adult -- Adult Ministry Beyond Sunday, Understanding the Adult Learner, Understanding Your Gifts; Family -- Family Conflict Resolution, Conflict Resolution in Marriage, Understanding Depression; Leadership -- Worship, Creating Church Vision, Mobilizing Volunteers; Outreach -- Share Your Faith, Effective Outreach, Reaching the Unchurched.

Peres to speak
The Rev. Don Peres, Duluth, will speak at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Community Covenant Church in Brainerd. There also will be a commissioning for missionary Kristi Gehrls at the service. Call 829-9304 for more information.
Jones to speak
The Rev. Mark Jones, recently approved Assemblies of God missionary to Mauritius, will be the guest speaker at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Assembly of God Church in Brainerd.
Favorite game quilt party
There will be a favorite game quilt party sponsored by St. Michael's Christian Mothers/Women at 1 p.m. Sunday at the parish hall in Buckman. Winners choose their own quilt. There will be free lunch, quilt door prize and coffee cakes for sale.
