The deadline to apply for the Evelyn Lenander Education Scholarship Program is May 15. The scholarship program supports students pursuing an elementary education degree. Several scholarships of up to $2,500 will be awarded. College students are encouraged to apply if they have completed two years of college and have been accepted into the elementary education field. The students must attend college on a full-time basis and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applications are available at the Central Minnesota Community Foundation at 101 South Seventh Ave., Suite 100, St. Cloud, MN 56301, or at www.communitygiving.org, or by calling (320) 253-4380.

Alex Impola, the son of Hans and Carol Impola of Brainerd, has been accepted at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. He also was awarded a Benedictine Scholarship, a Marshall H. and Nellie Alworth Memorial Scholarship, a Baxter Lions Scholarship, a Masonic Lodge Scholarship and a Sertoma Liftathon Scholarship.

Kaley D. Jenson, the daughter of Karla and Mark Jensen of Pierz, was named to the dean's list at Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Moorhead. She is majoring in dental hygiene.

The AgStar Fund for Rural America will award 10 $1,000 post high school scholarships. High school seniors who plan to continue their education to pursue careers in agricultural or related fields, are encouraged to apply. Applications will be accepted until April 1. Scholarships will be awarded to eligible seniors based on academic record, vocational promise, community service and leadership qualities, and can be used toward tuition at colleges, universities, technical or vocational schools. Applications can be obtained from high school counselors, the local AgStar office or online at agstar.com.

Marie Leblanc, Brainerd, has been named to the fall semester dean's list at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

Kristina Bird, Brainerd, has been named to the fall semester dean's list at Viterbo University in LaCrosse, Wis.

Lowell kindergarten students shared their success of learning about bears through science research, reading, art projects, music, literature and computer study. Students presented programs for their families and enjoyed a "picnic" together.

Nathan and Renae Roth of Wadena County traveled to Washington, D.C., with other young farmers and ranchers recently, visited with legislators, toured the United States Department of Agriculture Research Facilities and met with officials from the Egyptian Embassy and a representative from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Attendees participated in the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation and Young Farmers and Ranchers achievement award.

Christopher Liedl, son of Mark and Bea Liedl, Breezy Point, has been named to the dean's list at the University of Notre Dame for outstanding scholarship during the fall semester. His is a 2004 graduate of Pequot Lakes High School.

Carrie M. Korf, Pierz, has been named to the fall semester dean's list at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Ind.
