Brainerd High School winter band concert set Friday

The Brainerd High School Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble will present their winter concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Tornstrom Auditorium, Washington Middle School.

The program will open with Concert Band performing "Concert Preamble" by Leland Forsblad; "Ceremonial Overture" by John Cacavas; "Caccia and Chorale" by Clifton Williams; and "Jubilance" by Keith Foley. The featured soloist will be Andrea Miller performing "Barbarosa" for tuba and piano.

The Jazz Ensemble will perform "You Too" by Jeff Taylor and "Engine No. 9" by Les Hooper. Both songs will feature many soloists.

The Wind Ensemble will perform "Four Dances from West Side Story" arranged by Ian Polster.

Symphonic Band will perform "Fantasia in G" by Timothy Mahr; "Chester" by William Schuman; "Symphonic Movement" by Vaclav Nelhybel; "On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss" by David Holsinger; and "The Ascension" by Robert W. Smith. The featured soloist will be Briana Lester performing "Rigoletto" by Verdi.

Tickets are $3 for adults and $1 for students.
