Ron Markgraf

AITKIN -- Ron Markgraf, 67, Aitkin, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin.

He was born July 4, 1934, in Wood Lake to Marvin and Cecil (Loland) Markgraf. He graduated from Wood Lake High School. He served in the Air Force from 1952-1956 during the Korean War. He married Sharon Romo on June 29, 1957, in Granite Falls. He worked for the Maple Grove Police Department from 1965 until 1992 when he retired as a lieutenant. They moved to their home on Nord Lake in Aitkin. He served as administrator of the Aitkin Moose Lodge for seven years. He was a life member of the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association, the Suburban Law Enforcement Association, the Aitkin American Legion Lee Post No. 86 and the Aitkin Moose Lodge No. 1060.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Laurie, St. Michael, and Jil, Ostego; three sons, Dave, Osseo, Scott, El Paso, Texas, and Tom, Ramsey; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; his mother, Granite Falls; two sisters, Marlys Naaktageboren, St. Louis Park, and Phyllis Teighert, Clara City; and a brother, Lennie, Granite Falls.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Aitkin West Side Church with the Rev. Dallas Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Aitkin Veterans Posts.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Brainerd and an hour before services Saturday at the church.
