Joy M. Pederson

MOORHEAD -- Joy M. Pederson, 81, Moorhead, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Moorhead Health Care Nursing Home in Moorhead.

She was born Nov. 8, 1919, near Nimrod to Frank and Grace (Wintermute) Meech. She attended country school. She married Carl Pederson on May 18, 1940, in Oylen. They lived and worked in Oylen until moving to Staples in 1959. After her husband's death in 1965, she worked in several factories in Staples, St. Paul and Outing before moving to Moorhead in 1980.

Survivors include a son, Curtiss Pederson, Outing; a daughter, Joanne Knapper, Moorhead; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Clinton Meech, Staples, Vernon Meech, Afton, Harold Meech, Inver Grove Heights, and Ivan Meech, Minneapolis; and three sisters, Vera Nielsen, Beech, N.D., Cloy Bowers, Brainerd, and Myra Charmley, Alaska.

Her husband, a brother, Wendell, and a sister, Crystal, died earlier.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Oylen Church with Pastor Neal Malcore officiating. Burial will be in West Lyons Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Brenny Funeral Home in Staples and an hour before services Saturday at the church.
