Ideal Township residents voted Tuesday to combine the treasurer-clerk position and fill it by appointment in the only question on the ballot in Crow Wing County's township elections. The measure was adopted 31-27.
Bill Wortham was elected supervisor in Ideal Township with 54 votes, replacing an incumbent who did not chose to run. Incumbent Treasurer Beverly Brine also won re-election with 54 votes and no opposition.
In other township races:
Supervisor candidate Meredith Poland and incumbent Treasurer Keith DeChaine were elected. Vote totals were unavailable. Seventy-four votes were cast.
Ted Tretter defeated incumbent Milo Buehler 18-9 with a few other write-in votes. Treasurer Pat Kraklau, the incumbent, had 18 votes with some write-in opposition.
Incumbent Supervisor Scott Pakarinen won with 17 votes to George "Marty" Wetherbee III's 1 vote. Dixie Pakarinen was elected treasurer with 17 votes. She replaces Eva Young, the 22-year-incumbent who did not file for office but received 1 write-in vote.
Incumbent Supervisor Ole Rono won 20-1 against write-in candidate Warren Lundquist. Incumbent Treasurer Mary Weis didn't file but defeated write-in candidate David Kurtzman, who had one vote. Weis said she will serve as treasurer.
In the lowest turnout in the county, write-in candidate R.W. Eckerson was elected supervisor with 4 votes.
Superintendent Phillip Trusty was re-elected to a three-year term with 33 votes and no opposition. Alan Will, an incumbent supervisor, was elected to a one-year term 23-8 against Ronald Stout. Lois Tow won the treasurer post with 32 votes.
Supervisor Melvin Zubrod was re-elected with 37 votes. Supervisor Gary Zupfer was re-elected with 35 votes. Incumbent Treasurer Dan Brown garnered 35 votes.
Incumbents Terrance Ebinger, supervisor, and Renee Ross, treasurer, were re-elected with 41 and 42 votes, respectively. Clerk Linda McCabe received 1 vote for treasurer.
Incumbents Sharon Thurlow, supervisor, and Cheryl Hagen, treasurer, were each re-elected with 9 votes.
Supervisor Jon Wennberg won with 31 votes. Treasurer Donna Nedved, an incumbent had 31 votes.
Incumbent Supervisor Merle Roberts won with 25 votes. Write-in candidates were Roy McPherson, 3 votes, and Al Martin, 2 votes. Treasurer Dominic Henderson, an incumbent, was re-elected. Bev Westby and Kelley Roach, each had 2 write-in votes.
Supervisor John Johnson and Treasurer Suzanne Goerges, incumbents, were re-elected with 17 votes each.
Supervisor George Laughton won re-election with 27 votes. Kraig Seely had one vote and Ray Montzka had 23 votes. Treasurer Damian Kovatovich defeated Joan Rono 40-9.
Supervisor Don Hyaat was re-elected with 51 votes. Treasurer Donalee Wells defeated Donna Coyle and won re-election 35-29.
