"I wouldn't say he's the world's largest buffalo, but he's among 'em," said Vern Davis, a Pine River history buff. "Chief" is one of 16 buffalo which Davis raises as a reminder of the magnificent animals that used to roam the American prairie in bygone days.

Dr. George R. Nelson, veterinarian, has joined Dr. Charles Extrand as a partner in the operation of the Brainerd Animal Hospital. Dr. Nelson is a native of Park Rapids and a graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine.

Athletic Director Kermit Aase announced the plans for the sale of Regional Tournament basketball tickets at Washington High School. The tickets to be sold from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

The bucket remained upright again last night in the 24th District Cage Tournament as Brainerd and Aitkin advanced to the Semifinals to be played at Crosby-Ironton tonight. The Brainerd High School Warriors defeated the Little Falls Flyers 37 to 21, and Aitkin trounced Verndale 42 to 18.
80 years ago (1921)
Eighty-five students of the Brainerd High School planned to leave on the 12:50 train this afternoon for Little Falls to be present at the basketball game this evening.
