Koering bill would help farmers
ST. PAUL -- Sen. Paul Koering, R-Fort Ripley, has introduced a bill that could make more farmers eligible for MinnesotaCare, the state-subsidized plan that provides health care services to low-income Minnesotans.
His bill establishes the baseline for calculating eligibility for the state program as the federal adjusted gross income without adding back depreciation.
"Depreciation is a legitimate cost of doing business and ought to qualify as a deduction," Koering said.
