ELK RIVER -- Brainerd will be the site of an ASA/USA Softball and Minnesota Sports Federation umpire clinic April 16 at the Brainerd High School media center.
The clinic is geared to enhance the experience of new and veteran umpires through interpretation of rules and regulations by an ASA/USA staff member.
Clinics last about 1 1/4 hours. There is no cost for the clinic. Umpires may register with ASA/USA when they attend.

C-I, W-DC players are leading scorers in Mid-State Conference
Ben Baratto and Tyler Scull, both of Crosby-Ironton, and Kerby Johnson of Wadena-Deer Creek, were the scoring leaders in the Mid-State Conference for the 2001-2002 basketball season.
Baratto, a senior, and Scull, a sophomore, shared the boys' scoring title with 131 points each. Johnson, a senior, led the girls with 146 points.
Lanins to speak to boosters club
Brainerd Warriors girls' Nordic skiing coach Pat Lanin and his wife, Emily, will speak to the Brainerd Sports Boosters Club meeting about their experience as volunteers at the Winter Olympics.
The meeting begins noon Thursday at the Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen, located at 923 Oak St. between the Triangle Store and Temple Baptist Church. Parking is available behind the church or on 10th Street.
Swimmer Ty Goeman, the Warrior Athlete of the Week Feb. 28, will be honored.
