James O. Voss

NISSWA -- James O. Voss, 68, Nisswa, died Monday, March 11, 2002, at St. Cloud Hospital.

He was born July 8, 1933, in Austin to John R. and Bertha D. (Myhre) Voss. He graduated from Austin High School in 1952. He served in the Navy in engineering on the destroyer U.S.S. Smalley in the Pacific Fleet from 1952-1956. He married Patricia G. Luren on Feb. 28, 1959, in Austin. He worked as a design engineer at Weyerhauser Co., for 43 years. He was a member of Christ Community Church, Nisswa, where he sang in the choir and served on the board of trustees. He was a member of the Austin American Legion Post No. 91, the Nisswa American Legion Post No. 627, the Elks of Austin and a volunteer for Habit for Humanity and Timber Bay.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Scott Voss, Spring Valley; two daughters, Darcy Schulz, Westbrook, and Stacey Schwendeman Plano, Texas; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Voss, Austin.

His parents died earlier.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Christ Community Church, Nisswa, with Pastor David Uhrich and Pastor Jim Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Red Oak Grove Cemetery in Blooming Prairie.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd and an hour before services Friday at the church.
