Dorothy A. Hakes

AITKIN -- Dorothy Ann Hakes, 84, Aitkin, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Riverwood Extended Care Center in Aitkin.

She was born Feb. 12, 1917, in Aitkin to Frank and Martha (Hanson) Erickson. She graduated from Aitkin High School in 1934. She married Boyd Hakes on Jan. 23, 1942, in Aitkin. She lived most of her life in the Aitkin community. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Aitkin, the Priscilla Club, the Aitkin Historical Society and the Aitkin Doll Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Martha Allee, Rogers, and Jennie Hawyrsh, Monticello; two sons, Ladd Hakes, Fort Washington, Md., and Boyd Hakes, Westerville, Ohio; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Romelle Peterson, Aitkin.

Her husband died earlier.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church of Aitkin with the Rev. Ron Hunt officiating. Burial will be this summer in Lake View Cemetery.

Friends may call an hour before services Saturday at the church.
