High pressure systems over the Ohio Valley and Southwest should keep skies dry and partly cloudy over much of the nation today while a storm system off the New England coast pushes out to sea.
Coastal rain showers and snow showers through New England were predicted until midmorning before tapering off. Additional snowfall was expected to remain under 3 inches in most locations, with the heaviest snow over western and northern Maine.
A weak storm system in the upper Mississippi Valley was predicted to move east, bringing light snow across northern Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
South of the area, snow was forecast to change over to light rain.
