20 years ago (1990)

Southdale sewers will be the topic of a public hearing to be held at the Baxter school. Impetus for the hearing was a petition signed by 98 of the 124 lot owners in the addition. City engineer Bruce Buxton estimates the cost at $627,000 for the entire addition.

30 years ago (1980)

40 years ago (1970)

The drive to raise $500,000 in pledges to save a building and renovation project at St. Joseph's hospital has succeeded, it was announced by Mayor George Bedard. Over $427,000 is in hand with commitments for enough more to go over the top.

60 years ago (1950)

A 4-year-old Nisswa boy, for whom people in four Minnesota communities donated blood in his fight for life, lost that battle to leukemia Saturday in Rochester. Residents in Brainerd, Jordan, Shakopee and Minneapolis helped keep him alive for nine weeks.

80 years ago (1930)

A car thief in his hurry to make a getaway with the car of J.H. Kinney, lost control of the vehicle a minute after he had stolen it from in front of the Citizens State Bank. The car jumped the curb near Seventh and Quince with the thief running to elude capture.

100 years ago (1910)

It is reported that John Gilmer and his son are both seriously ill at the former's logging camp near Cross Lake, with small pox. There are said to be a number of cases of the disease in the camp.
