The Brainerd Area Coalition for Peace and Little Falls Partners for Peace will mark the second anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq on March 19.
The groups will gather at 1 p.m. at the Camp Ripley junction at Highway 371 and Highway 115, about six miles north of Little Falls. They will march to the Camp Ripley gates (about a mile to the west) at about 1:30 p.m.
The peace groups are calling for an end to war funding and the occupation of Iraq and redirecting spending to meet human needs such as full funding for veterans affairs and health care.
Motley employee to shave head as part of MDA fund-raiser
MOTLEY -- Motley BP station employee Jon Wogan will shave his head at noon Wednesday after raising more than $1,200 in shamrock sales for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The Shamrock program benefits children and adults with neuromuscular disease.
The Motley store led the way in shamrock sales for its group of stations. Its customers donated more than $500 to the shamrock program last year. Lynn Triebenbach said the store tried to raise more than $1,000 worth of shamrocks this year. As of last week the store had raised nearly $1,300 in shamrocks bought by employees and customers.
Wogan had his hair dyed green by a stylist from Total Looks but the hair will come off Wednesday.
MDA officials said the money the store raised is enough to send two area children to camp and pay for a support group session for families affected by neuromuscular disease.
