ST. PAUL (AP) -- After seven goals and an assist in four games, Marian Gaborik is the first Minnesota Wild player to be named NHL Player of the Week.
Gaborik, 20, received the honors Monday after rebounding from a 12-game scoreless streak.
"It was tough -- 12 games without a goal," Gaborik said. "I just knew I needed to relax and play a team game again. I knew if I could just get a goal, any kind of goal, things would be better."
Gaborik snapped his slump with a goal in last Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Rangers. He then scored a pair of goals in a 3-0 victory Thursday at St. Louis. One night later, he scored again in a 5-3 victory at Dallas.
Then on Sunday, Gaborik scored three goals for his second career hat trick, and added an assist in the Wild's 5-0 win over Columbus.
