20 years ago (1985)

Brainerd broadcasting just won't seem the same without Earl Johnsen at the controls. Johnsen, who has been in broadcasting nearly 30 years, has announced he is selling KLIZ. Johnsen, a tireless volunteer for the Brainerd area will remain active in business by heading a public relations advertising agency.

30 years ago (1975)

40 years ago (1965)

Patrick O'Heaton says, "Tis a foine time to buy that lovely G-r-r-reen handkerchief, scarf, pair of gloves, lingerie or handbag at Frances Shoppe 708 Laurel Street.

60 years ago (1945)

With the announcement that they are around somewhat earlier this year, Art Anderson, who operates the Hideaway on Route 5, reported seeing the first robin this morning.

80 years ago (1925)

Lorraine M. (Looking for someone to reserve her class play tickets), "Are you going to reserve your tickets?"

Edw. St., "Why should I reserve tickets?"

Lorraine, "Oh, I thought maybe you wanted to sit down."

100 years ago (1905)

Brainerd is threatened with a genuine meat war on account of peddling wagons, meat sold from farmers. The Butcher's Association is up in the air and it is expected that there will be a free-for-all on prices.
