From noon to 6 p.m. March 22, the Northern Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross will host an open house at its new location, 521 Charles St. in Brainerd.
The office is located behind McDonald's on West Washington Street.
Visitors can learn more about the Red Cross, its staff and board members and have free refreshments. Discounted first aid kits and emergency products will be available.
In celebration of Red Cross Month in March, the Northern Lakes Area Chapter is offering the following free classes to the public: adult CPR course, 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday; first aid course, 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday; and baby sitters training, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Access to assistive technology to be aired
PINE RIVER -- The STAR program is interested in hearing from parents, people with disabilities, seniors and professionals about the barriers they are experiencing in trying to obtain assistive technology.
A meeting will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Village in Pine River to discuss the need and access to assistive technology. Those who are unable to make it but still want to provide input can call Mary O'Hara Anderson at the STAR program at 1-800-657-3862.
The Consumer Action Network will meet before the STAR meeting at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Pine River nursing home. The public is invited to attend both meetings.
Walk for multiple
sclerosis set May 6
The Brauns Fashions Multiple Sclerosis Society Walk will be held Saturday, May 6, at Kiwanis Park in Brainerd.
The four-mile benefit walk will start between 9 and 10 a.m. with rest stops along the trail. Lunch will be provided by Subway and live entertainment will be offered. Participants may form a team or walk alone. Anyone who raises at least $100 will earn a T-shirt.
