The National Fish Decoy Association has again chosen Brainerd to host the Bob Johnson Invitation for 2010. The Invitational Fish Decoy Competition is a points qualifying contest for fish decoy carvers for the World Points Competition hosted each spring at the nationals in Perham.
The Invitational was named after noted Brainerd area decoy carver Bob Johnson, who has gained national acclaim for his K-12 decoy carving classes at the Brainerd High School. The competition will be held in conjunction with the sporting and collectible show March 20 at Jack's House in Brainerd. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is $5. The show is a fundraising event for the National Fish Decoy Association and the Brainerd Lakes Area Darkhouse Chapter.
Anyone interested in sporting collectibles or fish decoys and modern folk art are encouraged to attend. This is a buy, sell or trade type of show. Noted sporting collectible dealers will be on hand buying and identifying fishing lures, decoys and general sporting collectibles.
