Twyla R. Doty

PINE RIVER -- Twyla R. Doty, 77, Pine River, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at home.

She was born Aug. 27, 1925, in Pine River to Severin and Ora (Laging) Rendahl. She married Robert Doty on March 28, 1945, in Pequot Lakes. She taught at Longville Elementary School. They lived in Cass County and in several cities in Illinois and Iowa. They returned to Cass County in 1951 and purchased the Rendahl Farm in Maple Township. They retired from farming in the mid-1980s. She attended night classes for a number of years and then attended college full time, graduating in 1968 with a degree in education. She taught for a number of years and earned her master's degree in 1979. She taught in Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Pine River and Longville. She retired in 1989. They operated Doty's River View RV Park in Pine River. She also operated a macram business. She was active in church, home extension projects and as a 4-H parent. She was the Cass County delegate to the 4-H Congress in Washington, D.C., in 1967.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Jeffrey, Little Falls, Brian, Caledonia, and Kevin, Monticello; a daughter, Becky Jean Powell, Sunrise Beach, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes with Pastor Frank Milo officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Pine River. Memorials are preferred.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today and an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
