The following area students graduated from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks: Krista Green, Brainerd, cum laude; Elizabeth Steiger, Brainerd, cum laude; Crystal Glaser, Crosslake; Michelle Miller, Little Falls, magna cum laude; Margaret Murphy, Pequot Lakes; and Noah Gilbertson, Walker.

The following area students were named to the fall dean's list at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks: Kelly Boyer, Christopher Dehen and Jonathan Fargo, all of Brainerd; Andrew Forbolt, Crosby; and Katie Lorentz, Wadena. Fargo also participated in the Cooperative Education program.

The following area students were named to the fall president's list at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks: Ryan Beste, Kelly Boyer, Christopher Dehen and Joel Jacobson, all of Brainerd; and Katie Lorentz, Wadena. Boyer and Lorentz also were named to the fall D.J. Robertson list.

Katy Hochmayr of East Gull Lake was named to the fall semester dean's list at St. Olaf College in Northfield. Hochmayr is a senior.

Mark Gaalswyk, the son of Neal and Kathy Gaalswyk of East Gull Lake, was awarded the Hamline University Presidential Scholarship. Gaalswyk is a student at Pillager High School.

Katherine Erickson, the daughter of John and Janet Erickson of Brainerd, was awarded the Hamline University Honors Scholarship. Erickson is a student at Brainerd High School.

Alicia Rengel, Staples, participated in a Bemidji State University cultural ecology program in Hawaii. Rengel is a senior majoring in business administration.

The following area students graduated from Bemidji State University with a master's of science degree and a bachelor's of science degree in elementary education: Jeffrey Brown, Verndale, masters in industrial technology, graduated with honors; Patricia Dalen, Verndale, curriculum instruction; Lori Johnson, Verndale, sport studies, graduated with honors; Stephanie Mercil, teacher education, graduated with honors; and Candyce Fitzloff-Westfield, Walker, teacher education, graduated with honors with a bachelor of arts degree in fine arts.

The following area students graduated from Bemidji State University with undergraduate degrees: Chad Forslin, Baxter, graduated with honors in elementary education; John Groenwold, Baxter, technology management; Rachel Berry, Little Falls, elementary education; Joshua Hirschey, Little Falls, graduated with honors in social studies; Travis Okerlund, Little Falls, graduated with honors in elementary education; Steven Rader, Pequot Lakes, elementary education; Gabriel Carlstrom, Aitkin, design technology; Marcus Aulie, Ironton, music; and Joel Engholm, Brainerd, sociology.

Stephanie Olson, the daughter of Verne and Bonnie Olson of Pequot Lakes, was selected as student of the month for February by the Youth Activities Committee of the Brainerd Elks Lodge No. 615. Olson is involved with student council, choir, women's ensemble, theater, National Honor Society, senior class vice president, speech secretary, student representative of the Pequot Lakes School Board and a Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership ambassador. Olson plans to go to college to major in psychology or photojournalism.

Brady Berg, the son of Larry Berg and Deb Bahma of Brainerd, was chosen as a student ambassador for the People to People program. Berg is a ninth-grader at Franklin Junior High School. Berg will travel to Europe this summer.
